Top new restaurants of 2015, as selected by the Miami Herald, included Proof Pizza & Pasta on North Miami Avenue. The Italian eatery offers pizzas with a sourdough crust that are cooked at 900 degrees in a wood-fired oven. Featuring house-made mozzarella, the pizzas are topped with ingredients such as caramelized onions, fennel sausage, and black garlic.
Among Miami Beach’s most popular new dining spots is Bazi, in the renovated Art Deco Marlin Hotel. The Asian restaurant puts seafood front-and-center, and has a fishing boat in Islamorada that brings in a fresh catch each day. Designed by chef-owner Michael Pirolo, the adventurous menu incorporates ingredients and flavors from Italy, as well as Asia, in a high-concept melange.
